Hello Kittens!

We just wanted to draw your attention to a fabulous blog post written by Janine Hawkins (@bleatingheart) on the New World Notes blog.

She goes into what sets Kitty Powers' Matchmaker apart from other dating games and makes it so unique!

We love it when players post their analysis, and have clearly played the game and understood all the thought that's gone into it. It makes all our hard work worthwhile!

Kitty Powers' Matchmaker Update - Avatar Letters!

Richard Franke

Hello again Kittens!

We're pleased to tell you that the update for Kitty Powers' Matchmaker goes live today on both Apple and Android devices.

In fact the iOS build is already live, and the Android update will be available later today.

This update includes a bunch of bug fixes, plus an improvement to the Avatar data system, which means that you should see more Avatar letters than you did previously.

An Avatar Letter!

An Avatar Letter!

The way Avatar Letters work is that when your anonymous avatar is being sent on dates by other players, the data is uploaded to our database. When enough data has been collected, the 'Love-O-Tron' algorithm calculates who your 'Dream Date' would be and also who you should avoid!

You won't get more than one letter a day, and your avatar will need to have been on enough dates before enough data will be generated, so everybody should update and get dating so we can all find out who our 'Dream Date' is! How exciting!

iOS 8 - Updated!

Hello everyone,

we are aware that there are some issues with the game on some Apple devices when updated to iOS 8. We are working on a fix and will be submitting it to Apple within 24 hours, so you should see it within the next few days.

The game is still playable, but you may notice that it is a bit more zoomed in than usual.

Apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!

UPDATE - the fix is now live, so please make sure to update your build!

Making Matchmaker - The Sound of Muzak

Richard Franke

Today we thought we'd bring you a first look behind the scenes of how we made Kitty Powers' Matchmaker, starting with the music.

We spent a long time looking for the perfect title music for the game. Not too energetic (as that would become annoying), cheesy enough to fit the mood but expensive sounding, and of course distinctly British.

Then we happened to be watching Spaced for about the third time, and heard the perfect music. Right after the ad break in episode two of season 1. It was gold. Here's that moment in Spaced (If you haven't seen Spaced you really ought to watch it. You can find out about it here on IMDB).

Thank goodness for Shazam. We discovered that the track was 'Red Carpet Ride' by a guy called John Shakespeare and were overjoyed to discover that it was production music, which made it a bit more affordable to license. It was created in the 1970's so has that authentic big band quality (you can hear it on Youtube here).

We also found the series of albums on the KPM label (you can read more about them here) that the track came from, so we scoured them and found the second major piece of music too. It's called 'Full Flight' by Syd Dale. It's a bit more upbeat and fabulous as we needed something for our 'game show' style screens (you can hear it here).

Most of the rest of our tracks were sourced from the Audio Network and a couple of others from EMI's world music collection.

We hope you enjoyed this little insight into the music in Kitty Powers' Matchmaker. Stay tuned for more 'Making Matchmaker' stories by subscribing to our blog!
